Season's Greetings

Dear colleagues and friends of the SCAHT,

The sixth year of our centre is almost complete. A year with many challenges and achievements including the first financial audit of the foundation accounts, a process audit by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation and, not least, the submission for our application for the next financing period to the Swiss Confederation. While these activities are necessary to demonstrate good governance of our centre and set us up for the future, it is our contribution to education, research and regulatory projects in toxicology and risk assessment which add value and support public health in Switzerland and abroad.

We wish you and your family a wonderful festive season with time for tranquility and reflection and a very happy and healthy New Year 2016!

Martin Wilks and the SCAHT team

Federal Council publishes report on strengthening 3R research in Switzerland

The Federal Council has published a report on the future of the 3R Research Foundation Switzerland and alternatives for animal experiments. The report points to several key activities for successful and sustainable 3R implementation: education and training, publication of 3R-relevant information, and strengthening 3R research. For the latter, the report asks the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation and the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office to evaluate the possibility of creating a 3R Competence Centre modeled on the example of the SCAHT.
