Regulatory toxicologists provide advice to risk assessors, risk managers, and policy makers on matters related to human health risks from chemical and pharmaceutical substances.
At SCAHT we monitor emerging scientific information (e.g. toxicity of substance mixtures), technologies (e.g. nanotechnology) and issues (e.g. fertility) and identify whether the development of new regulations or the modification or application of existing regulations in the areas of human health and safety is required.
In close collaboration with regulatory authorities we represent Swiss toxicology in national and international scientific expert groups (e.g. OECD, Codex Alimentarius).
This work forms a vital link between SCAHT research projects and the regulatory community, helping to translate research findings into risk assessment, risk management, and risk communication.
