Prof Dr Martin F Wilks

Martin Wilks obtained a doctorate in medicine in 1986 at the Medical School Hannover, Germany, and a PhD in toxicology at the University of Surrey, UK, in 1990. After nearly 20 years in senior positions as a medical toxicologist in the National Health Service and the chemical industry in the UK and Switzerland he became Director of the SCAHT in 2009. He is a EUROTOX Registered Toxicologist, a Fellow of the British Toxicology Society and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. His research and professional interests include clinical toxicology, toxico-epidemiology and risk assessment of chemical exposures. He was appointed Adjunct Professor in the Medical Faculty of the University of Geneva in 2012, and the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Basel in 2019. Martin Wilks retired on 31 January 2024.
