Dr Joyce de Paula Souza

Postdoctoral Researcher

Joyce de Paula Souza holds a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmaD) degree from the Federal University of São Paulo, where she worked for five years in regulatory toxicology within the agrochemical sector. In 2017, she relocated to Basel and completed an MSc in Drug Science focused on Toxicology at the University of Basel in 2019. That same year, she joined the research group of Prof. Marc Donath at the University Hospital Basel, contributing to both preclinical and clinical studies in the field of metabolic diseases. She earned her PhD in Biomedical Research in 2024. In 2025, Joyce joined the Swiss Centre for Applied Human Toxicology (SCAHT) as a postdoctoral researcher in regulatory toxicology, focusing on advancing innovation in chemical risk assessment.
